Welcome to the official blog of the Black Nunavummiut Nurses Association (BNUNA)—a space created with purpose, pride, and deep commitment to representation, healing, and progress.
BNUNA was founded to champion the voices, stories, and leadership of Black nurses in Nunavut. As a collective, we are more than healthcare professionals—we are advocates, mentors, community builders, and cultural stewards working to shape a more inclusive and empowered healthcare landscape in the North.
As we launch this platform, our goal is to inform, inspire, and ignite dialogue.
Why BNUNA Matters
Nunavut is home to a rich tapestry of cultures, and Black nurses have long contributed to the strength and resilience of the health system here. Yet, many have worked in silence—facing cultural isolation, systemic barriers, and the absence of spaces that reflect their experiences.
BNUNA is here to change that. We are creating a safe and affirming environment for Black nurses to connect, grow, and thrive—while also extending that same energy outward to support community health initiatives across the territory.
What to Expect From This Blog
Each week, we’ll share stories, reflections, health insights, and cultural highlights that uplift Black nursing voices in the Arctic. Whether you’re a nurse, student, community member, or ally, our blog will offer:
This is only the beginning. Together, we are building something lasting.
We invite you to read, share, and grow with us.
In Solidarity,
The BNUNA Team
